Strong winds over the northeast coast are expected to spread southward this afternoon.
Maximum wind gusts: 100 to 120 km/h with locally higher gusts possible over exposed coastal areas.
Locations: coastal Newfoundland from Bay of Exploits to the northern Avalon Peninsula.
Time span: through this evening.
Remarks: Fully leafed trees are more vulnerable to wind damage at this time of year than during the winter season. Be prepared for possible utility outages and consider having basic supplies such as flashlights and batteries on hand.
