Orange Watch - Severe Thunderstorm

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing torrential rain.

Slow moving thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall is expected beginning late this morning and persisting though to this evening.

Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
