Special Weather Statement In Effect

A prolonged period of rain is expected.

Locations: Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity and Burgeo - Ramea.

Potential rainfall: 50 to 70 mm, locally higher amounts possible.

Time span: Tonight through Tuesday.

Remarks: A slow-moving frontal boundary is expected to bring a period of prolonged rainfall. Periods of rain tonight will change to rain at times heavy on Monday and Tuesday. Embedded thunderstorms may develop over some areas, producing locally heavier rainfall with rates of 10 to 15 mm per hour. There is some uncertainty as to where the highest rainfall amounts will occur, but the potential exists for significant totals over some locations.

Water pooling on roads may make travel more difficult in some areas. Localized flooding may occur in low-lying areas.
