Yellow Warning - Storm Surge

A multi-day storm surge event continues for Herschel Island.

Moderate flooding is expected today at high tide, with maximum water levels reaching up to 25 cm above highest astronomical tide. Water levels are expected to recede somewhat tonight.

Minor flooding is possible at each high tide Tuesday. Moderate flooding is expected once again Wednesday afternoon, with maximum water levels reaching up to 25 cm above highest astronomical tide before water levels recede Thursday.

These conditions can cause damage to infrastructure near the coast, including boats beached or anchored along the shoreline.

This warning is issued when high water levels pose a threat to coastal regions due to tides, storm surge and/or waves.
