Details

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Locations: Terra Nova, Bonavista Peninsula, Clarenville and vicinity, Connaigre.
Potential rainfall rates: locally 20 to 30 mm per hour in thunderstorms.
Potential wind gusts: 60 to 80 km/h with locally higher gusts possible in thunderstorms.
Time span: early this evening.
Remarks: A line of thunderstorms extending from Newman Sound southwest to Jeddore Lake has developed. This line of thunderstorms is tracking southward to southeastward and may have some embedded severe cells with heavy rainfall rates, medium to large hail, and strong wind gusts.
Be sure to watch for changing skies — storms can intensify quickly.
