At 11:09 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to quarter size hail and very heavy rain.
These thunderstorms are located north of Matagami and are moving southeast at 40 kilometres per hour.
Another line of thunderstorms is located 40 kilometres southeast of Moosonee and is moving southeast at 50 kilometres per hour. These thunderstorms produce many lightning strikes. The firefighters fighting the fires in the region are located in the path of these storms.

Damage to roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees is likely. Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. There is a risk of injury.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
