Special Weather Statement In Effect

Periods of heavy rain continue.

Locations: eastern and northeastern Newfoundland.

Total rainfall: 40 to 50 mm, with locally higher amounts possible in areas of heaviest rain.

Maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 60 km/h, except 80 along parts of the coast.

Time span: gradually tapering off tonight.

Remarks: Rainfall rates could be as high as 10 to 20 mm per hour in the areas of heaviest rain, leading to an increased likelihood of localized flooding on roadways and in low-lying areas.
