Details

Heavy rain is forecast overnight tonight through Sunday with widespread totals of 40 to 70 mm possible. Rainfall warnings will be issued for some areas of central Alberta later today. With the ground already saturated from the storm this past weekend and with rainfall totals for the month of June well above normal, additional rain will increase the risk of overland flooding, washouts, and potential impacts to infrastructure. Now is a good time to assess further risk and take action to prepare for more rainfall in central Alberta. This statement may be updated to include more information as confidence improves later this week. Rainfall warnings are likely and will be issued closer to the event as forecast confidence increases.
Additionally, another system is also forecast Sunday night into early next week that may bring additional heavy rainfall to vulnerable areas of central Alberta.
