Yellow Warning - Severe Thunderstorm

At 5:13 a.m. NDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

Locations: Bay St. George.

Total rainfall: 5 to 10 mm, except possibly more than 25 mm in thunderstorms.

Maximum wind gusts: near 70 km/h in thunderstorms.

Time span: until early this morning.

Remarks: An area of severe thunderstorms continues over western Newfoundland. Satellite and radar imagery indicate a band of torrential rainfall. Strong winds have also been detected in association with these thunderstorms.
