At 7:42 a.m. ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.
An organized area of thunderstorms are currently affecting northern Cape Breton and latest radar returns suggest the potential for locally very strong wind gusts as well as very heavy downpours and potentially small hail. These storms are moving southeast at around 50 km/h.
Hazards: - Rainfall rates up to 25 mm per hour - Strong wind gusts potentially reaching 90 km/h
Locations impacted include: Chéticamp, Grand Étang, Margaree Harbour, Petit Étang, Belle-Marche, La Prairie, Plateau, Cap Le Moine, Pleasant Bay, Belle Côte, Red River (Inverness), Margaree, Portree, Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada, Margaree Forks.
