Yellow Warning - Freezing Rain

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected.

A band of freezing rain is expected to move though the Gameti area beginning this morning and then move into Wekweeti by late morning to early afternoon. The freezing rain will change over to snow late this afternoon.

Some brief freezing rain is also expected for Whati late this afternoon to early this evening.

Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces could be difficult to detect. There is risk of injury due to slips and falls.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to create ice build-up.
