Yellow Warning - Severe Thunderstorm

At 1:17 p.m. PDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to quarter size hail and heavy rain.

The severe thunderstorm is located 15 km to the west of Hixon and is moving to the northeast at 25 km/h.

Highway 97 and communities north of Hixon will be affected in the next hour.

Driving conditions will likely be difficult.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
