Details

A humid, and unstable atmosphere is combining with an approaching frontal system creating conditions favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms.
An area of thunderstorms is expected to develop this evening over the Red River valley and slowly progress eastward towards the Whiteshell and Sprague.
These thunderstorms will be moving slowly east / southeast and are capable of producing torrential rain, creating a risk for localized flooding. Hail and strong wind gusts are also possible with any stronger cells that develop.

Driving conditions may be difficult.
Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
