Conditions are favourable for the development of squalls with wind gusts up to 35 knots.
A developing low pressure system and frontal wave will mix with an unstable atmosphere this afternoon over southern Manitoba, creating conditions favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms.
These severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, strong wind gusts, heavy rainfall. A water spout can also not be ruled out.
Storms are expected to develop over North Dakota this afternoon and move into southern Manitoba late this afternoon / early this evening. Thunderstorms will grow in coverage as the evening progresses, with the primary hazards shifting towards heavy rainfall and severe wind gusts.
