Details

Blizzard conditions with potentially damaging winds and persistent visibility near zero in snow and blowing snow.
When: Early this evening through Friday night.
Where: Dempster Highway near the Richardson Mountains.
Remarks: A stationary ridge over the Beaufort Sea combined with a low pressure system over the Gulf of Alaska will create favourable conditions for strong easterly winds along the Dempster Highway.
Winds gusts up to 100 km/h, together with falling snow and snow already on the ground, will result in blizzard conditions and near zero visibility. Winds are forecast to ease early Saturday but remain gusty through the day, as blowing snow and reduced visibility can still be expected.
