At 624 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms producing a waterspout over along a line extending from 11 miles north of Cedar Island Ferry Terminal to near Portsmouth Village. Movement was southeast at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include... Portsmouth Village and Ocracoke Light House.
