Special Weather Statement

At 1258 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Chandlerville to near Alexander to Woodson. Movement was east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include... Springfield, Jacksonville, Petersburg, Athens, Chatham, Alexander, Auburn, Sherman, New Berlin, Ashland, Waverly, Divernon, Pleasant Plains, Loami, Franklin, Murrayville, Woodson, Tallula, Illinois State Fairgrounds, and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.

Those attending the Illinois State Fair are in the path of these storms and should prepare for IMMINENT DANGEROUS WEATHER CONDITIONS.

This includes the following highways... Interstate 55 between mile markers 79 and 106. Interstate 72 between mile markers 66 and 104.
