The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Fire Weather Watch for lightning, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Lower Kobuk Valley.

* TIMING...From Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening.

* THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...

* WINDS...West 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 35 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs around 80. Lows in the upper 40s.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are possible due to scattered thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning and outflow boundaries. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable.
