An active monsoon pattern will continue to bring scattered to numerous heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms across portions Yap State through tonight. Frequent lightning, wind gusts to 30 knots, and choppy seas can be expected with thunderstorms. Residents across Yap State should monitor local forecasts and heed advice of emergency managers when heavy rainfall occurs. Locally heavy rainfall could result in additional flooding and mudslides, particularly in areas that experienced flooding last week following the more than 22 inches of rain that fell on Thursday.
Inter-island travel will be challenging through at least tonight. Combined seas of 6 to 8 feet with occasional larger sets will be near, but just below, the Small Craft Advisory criteria of 10 ft. Consider postponing inter-island travel until conditions improve.
