The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Central Garfield County in southern Utah...

* Until 1145 PM MDT.

* At 944 PM MDT, the gauge on the Escalante River at Escalante is still reporting flows in excess of 2000 cfs, leading to high flows within the Upper Escalante River Canyon. These high flows stem from earlier heavy rainfall from thunderstorms. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks, streams, slot canyons, and normally dry washes.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Pine Creek Box Canyon and Upper Escalante River Canyon.
