At 317 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Surf City to 6 nm northwest of Figure Eight Island to 10 nm northwest of Wrightsville Beach to 16 nm northwest of North Masonboro Island, moving east at 25 knots.
