* WHAT...Peak heat index values between 100 to 105 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of west central Illinois, east central and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is expected this morning into the early afternoon, mainly for counties along and north of I-80. The rain and lingering cloud cover could hold peak heat indices lower than currently forecast for areas north of I-80.
