The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Central Otero County in south central New Mexico...
* Until 715 AM MDT.
* At 317 AM MDT, Thunderstorms with torrential rainfall are affecting the headwaters of the Sacramento River upstream of Timberon, and arroyos that flow towards the Bug Scuffle community. This area is already very saturated from several inches of rain in recent days and Thursday night.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, arrows, roads, and low water crossings.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Timberon, Bug Scuffle, the Sacramento River Road between Timberon and the Owen Prather Highway.
Flows may persist on the lower Sacramento River below Timberon through the weekend.
Instructions
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
