An unsettled monsoon pattern, associated with Invest 92W continues to intensify across eastern Micronesia. Invest 92W is now rated low by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, which means development into a significant tropical cyclone is possible, but not likely within the next 24 hours. The latest ASCAT pass does show a Low- Level Circulation Center with near gale winds to the east of the center, north of Pohnpei. A relative lull remains in place across Chuuk this evening, but shower coverage is expected to increase tonight. Strong gusts of 25 to 30 knots are possible near heavier showers as 92W continues to influence the region. Larger localized wind waves will make seas choppy at times.
Additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are possible through the week, with additional rainfall possible next weekend. These rainfall amounts could result in flash flooding and potential mudslides. Towards the latter half of the week, a monsoon surge could develop and continue to impact Chuuk. Residents across Chuuk State should monitor local forecasts and heed advice of emergency managers when heavy rainfall occurs.
