.A weather system will bring breezy westerly winds through the Cascade gaps Tuesday afternoon and evening. Coupled with low relative humidity, this will lead to critical fire weather conditions, especially across the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon.
The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon to 10 PM PDT Tuesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 691 Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and 701 Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon.
* TIMING...From noon to 10 PM PDT Tuesday.
* WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
