At 446 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms capable of producing a waterspout over Portsmouth Village, or 13 miles northeast of Cedar Island. These storms were nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include... Frisco, Portsmouth Village, Ocracoke Light House, Hatteras Ferry Terminal, Ocracoke Ferry Terminal, and Ocracoke Lighthouse.
