Flood Warning

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana...

White River at Edwardsport.

White River at Elliston.

White River at Newberry.

White River at Petersburg.

.Moderate flooding continues on the White River, with all gages now below major flood stage. The crest of the White is at Centerton as of early Monday afternoon. The crest is forecast to reach Spencer Tuesday evening and points downriver thereafter, getting Petersburg over the weekend. Additional rainfall later this week could lengthen the amount of time in flood and possibly raise downstream crests.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...White River at Edwardsport.

* WHEN...Until Monday, August 24.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Water is at critical levels for makeshift levees. Most of bottomlands flood. Old Vincennes road and State Road 358 between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet. High water surrounds river cabins. This type of flood occurs on average about once a year.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 AM EDT Monday /6:00 AM CDT Monday/ the stage was 14.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 21.0 feet early Friday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Monday, August 24. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
