.Recent periods of heavy rainfall have led to minor to major flooding along the Big Blue River at Shelbyville and Carthage. Flooding will persist into tomorrow evening.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Big Blue River at Carthage.

* WHEN...Until early tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Extensive flooding is in progress. Many local roads flood and are impassable to most vehicles. A few evacuations are necessary in southern parts of Carthage, extreme southern sections of Knightstown, eastern Raysville and a few rural areas of northwest Rush County. Used auto parts yard in Carthage is flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 4:30 AM EDT Friday the stage was 10.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 4:30 AM EDT Friday was 12.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.7 feet this morning.
