Coastal Flood Warning

* WHAT...Up to three feet of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

* WHERE...Bronx, Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern Nassau Counties.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT this evening.

* COASTAL IMPACTS...Locally moderate flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

* SHOREFRONT AND BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 2 to 5 feet, along with elevated water levels, will result in areas of dune erosion with damage to a few waterfront structures. Splashover over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures are compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.
