* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...West Fork Big Blue River near Dorchester.
* WHEN...Until Sunday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, The county road about 500 feet north of the gage begins to flood.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 4:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 15.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 4:00 AM CDT Thursday was 15.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 22.3 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage Saturday afternoon. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 22.6 feet on 07/01/1986. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Instructions
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
