|...HIGH WATER CONTINUES ON THE SALMON RIVER...
A glacier dammed lake outburst from Summit Lake continues on the Salmon River near Hyder. Water levels as of 5 am Thursday are at 26.5 ft at the river gage, around 7.5 ft higher then what it was at before the event started. Water levels are expected to continue to rise with a forecast crest expected by Thursday evening. It is unknown how much water will be released from Summit Lake which results in large uncertainty on exact crest height and timing.
Potential impact area for this event is the road from Hyder to Premier, Canada at around mile point 9 along the Salmon River.
Be aware of debris in the water. Very cold water will increase the threat of hypothermia. Please report any observed impacts to the National Weather Service.
