Details

At 1043 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Elon to Hoffman. Movement was northeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include... Chapel Hill, Burlington, Sanford, Asheboro, Graham, Southern Pines, Hillsborough, Raeford, Randleman, and Pittsboro.
This includes the following highways... Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 163 and 167. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 139 and 162, and between Mile Markers 259 and 267. US 1 between Mile Markers 69 and 81. Interstate 73 between Mile Markers 32 and 36, and between Mile Markers 42 and 46.

Instructions

Move indoors at the first sign of threatening skies or the first sound of thunder. Gusty winds is the primary concern with this line of storms. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
