At 455 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a waterspout over the eastern Pamlico Sound 9 miles southwest of Salvo, or 15 miles north of Frisco, moving southeast at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include... Salvo and Avon Pier.
