Details
Hurricane Nolo remains nearly stationary south of the Big Island. The possibility of heavy rain could lead to localized flooding over portions of the Big Island and Maui.
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Big Island, Maui, Lanai, Molokai, and Kahoolawe.
* WHEN...Through this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The possibility remains for localized flooding over areas of the Big Island and Maui due to heavy rain from slow moving Hurricane Nolo to the south of the Big Island. Areas most at risk for flooding are the windward and southeast portions of the Big Island where the ground remains saturated after recent rains.
