At 939 PM HST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain over Kauai. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Substantial rises have been observed at the Wainiha River, Waialae Stream, Hanapepe River, and Kawaikoi Stream gages. The Waimea River continues to steadily rise. In addition, water levels at the Hanalei River Bridge on Kuhio Highway have sharply risen during the last hour. Rises on other area rivers and streams can also be expected as heavy rain continues. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
