Details

A large and disorganized tropical disturbance is located northeast of Saipan and is producing isolated to numerous, locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. This system is expected to move just north of the Marianas over the next day. A col remains over the CNMI that is keeping winds light. However, a developing monsoonal flow into the system is expected to increase the winds beginning tonight over all islands. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph will be possible with gusts of 30 mph. Guam will be more likely to recieve higher winds and heavier showers. The unstable airmass and high precipitable water values may allow for heavy showers to develop, creating a potential flooding risk. The monsoon flow is expected to be strongest over Guam but high uncertainty remains in where the highest rainfall amounts will occur and there may be breaks between instances of heavy rainfall.
