...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR SOUTH AND EAST FACING SHORES THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...
Southerly swells from Hurricane Lowell will keep surf elevated above High Surf Advisory conditions through Sunday. A forecasted northward turn will cause an increase in swell potentially to warning levels by Monday. A large, medium-period east swell from Hurricane Karina will also persist through at least Sunday, producing advisory level surf along east facing shores.
* WHAT...Surf up to 14 feet along east facing shores. Surf up to 12 feet along south facing shores, increasing to 14 feet by Sunday afternoon. Surf up to 8 feet along west facing shores of the Big Island.
* WHERE...South and east facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands... and west facing shores of the Big Island.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
