At 645 PM EDT, City of Charleston Emergency Management reported several closed roads across Downtown Charleston due to flash flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mount Pleasant, Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Charles Towne Landing, Medical University Of South Carolina, Marion Square, Columbus Street Terminal and The Citadel.
City of Charleston Emergency Management reported several roads closed across the peninsula due to flash flooding. Also, a flood inundation sensor on Ogier Street near Calhoun Street indicates over 1 foot of water on the road. However, heavy rainfall has ended and no additional flooding is expected. The warning will remain in effect until ongoing flooding subsides.
