At 618 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over RDU International, or near Cary. This thunderstorm was nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Durham, Cary, RDU International, Morrisville, Research Triangle, William B Umstead State Park, Parkwood, Bethesda, and Carpenter.
This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 278 and 296. Interstate 440 between Mile Markers 1 and 11. Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 0 and 17. US 1 between Mile Markers 99 and 101. the Durham Freeway between Mile Markers 2 and 6.
