The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Central Garfield County in southern Utah...

* Until 945 PM MDT.

* At 843 PM MDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Birch Creek and the main stem of the Escalante River. Flash flooding is already occurring with the river running high and hitting the bottom of the bridge on 300 east just north of Escalante.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of the Escalante River.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... The Escalante River from near the town of Escalante to the terminus at Lake Powell.
