Flash Flood Warning

At 929 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported a water rescue ongoing near Fancy Gap due to Chances Creek Road being completely flooded. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring in several areas across the county near Fancy Gap and near Hillsville.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

This includes the following streams and drainages... East Fork Crooked Creek, Burks Fork, East Fork Little Reed Island Creek, Grassy Creek, Chestnut Creek, Garners Creek, Cranberry Creek, Elk Spur Branch, Big Reed Island Creek, Brushy Fork and Crooked Creek.
