The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Surry County in northwestern North Carolina... Southeastern Carroll County in southwestern Virginia... Southwestern Patrick County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 1215 AM EDT.

* At 955 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain fell this afternoon. Creek and streams were begin to fall this evening. However, another round of storms will move over the area between 10p and 11 pm.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Archies Creek, Brushy Fork, Ararat River, Big Creek, Birds Branch and Dan River.
