Flash Flood Warning

At 612 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain 11 miles northeast of Kiowa, or 34 miles west of Limon, moving northeast at 5 mph. Between 1 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, gulches, roads, and poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mainly rural areas of North Central Elbert County.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Comanche Creek, Spring Branch, Wilson Creek, East Bijou Creek, Hay Gulch, West Bijou Creek and Middle Bijou Creek.
