Tropical Depression 29W is located 555 miles northeast of Chuuk, moving northwest at 13 mph. A turn more to the west is expected to occur over the next 24 hours. As 29W continues it's journey to the Marianas, rapid intensification is possible. This would result in increased west to southwest monsoon flow will increase. This will allow for showers to increase in coverage any intensity, with locally heavy rainfall likely.
At this time, 2 to 4 inches of rainfall may develop, with locally higher amounts possible. If 29W can intensify a little faster than anticipated, or if it takes a due west track, this could open door for isolated wind gusts to 30 to 35 knots to develop. Seas currently look to increase 1 to 3 feet, topping out near 7 feet, but again, this could be higher if 29W tracks closer to Chuuk or strengthens faster.
Folks with intra-island travel should delay any travel for a few days until the developing tropical depression has passed.
