Flood Warning

Heavy rains have likely caused many small streams to flood. Low-lying and poor drainage areas were also flooded causing road closures and evacuations in the warned area. Water may be slow to recede. Additional rain over the next 12-24 hours may prolong the high water and flooding.

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Mississippi, including the following county, Covington.

* WHEN...Until noon CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 533 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 7 and 11 inches of rain fell overnight. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Seminary and Sanford. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
