At 605 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 9 NM west of Doug Mellichamp Reef to 6 NM north of Beaufort 45 Feet Reef, moving south at 30 knots.
HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.
SOURCE...Buoy. The wind sensor at the Fort Sumter Range Front Light gusted to 52 kt at 5:09 PM. Additional sites along the coast have recently gusted above 35 kt.
IMPACT...Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves.
