High Surf Advisory

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, breaking waves of 3 to 6 feet with frequent, strong rip currents, highest across south to southwest facing beaches exposed to southerly swells.

* WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches.

* WHEN...Until 5 PM PDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore.
