* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong storm system moving across the Gulf of Alaska will bring a mix of snow, freezing rain and rain to much of the Anchorage Hillside and Eagle River between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday afternoon. Precipitation will start as mainly heavy snow by Monday afternoon, then transition to a mix of snow and freezing rain late Monday night to early Tuesday morning as east winds begin to pick up. Precipitation could transition to plain rain by Tuesday morning as temperatures rise above freezing. Uncertainty for the timing of precipitation type transition remains high, with a later transition to rain and freezing rain potentially leading to higher snowfall totals.
