.A push of monsoon moisture will bring scattered thunderstorms to the region this afternoon through Saturday evening. Heavier rainfall is expected within stronger storms, but lightning outside of rain cores continues to be a concern.
The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Red Flag Warning for abundant lightning, which is in effect from noon to 9 PM PDT Saturday.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 694 Grande Ronde Valley of Oregon and 699 Western Forested Blue Mountains.
* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 7 PM PDT this evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from noon to 9 PM PDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered coverage with abundant lightning.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty erratic winds up to 40 mph.
