The National Weather Service in Springfield has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas...

* Until 330 AM CDT.

* At midnight CDT, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Columbus, Weir, Scammon, Roseland, Skidmore, Stippville, Crestline, Carona and Lawton.

Department of Highways has closed Highway 160 from Columbus to Crestline, and many rural roads are flooded and unsafe to travel.
